napoli wafers

The history of Napoli began shortly after the Second World War: it was founded in 1948 by Franz Andres and in 1955 merged with Casali (I wrote a little more on Casali's history in my first entry about one of their products). Since 1970, the Casali and Napoli brands are owned by Manner.

Casali and Manner products have been available in stores here for quite a while, but I have never had the opportunity to try a Napoli product until less than three weeks ago, when I found some crispy Napoli wafers with 71% cream (funny, they are not to be found in the product range presented on manner.com, though they are listed in the table with nutritional information for all Manner products that is to be found on the same website) in a supermarket. There were three flavours available: Choco, Hazelnut and Lemon. I'm usually not that attracted to hazelnut, and the wrappers didn't make them look that great anyway (even though I knew Napoli is owned by Manner, so they couldn't have been that bad, could they?), so I chose to buy only the Choco and Lemon wafers.

french bakery muffins

I had heard some French Bakery advertisements on the radio, but I had never tried anything from them. I did not even pay much attention to those spots, so I didn't even know where I could find their shops. Until one rainy day when I found one by accident - I went into a bookstore and, when I came back out, I saw it just across the street. I crossed the street and I went in, curious to see whether they had cakes. But, even though they had some very nice looking cakes, I walked out with...

g7 gelati

In the first post (Ice-Mastry Garden Party Chocolate with Cherries) I mentioned two other brands - G7 Gelati and Haagen-Dazs. So I thought I'd make this entry about G7 Gelati. I guess the origin is pretty obvious. I won't make a list of all the names and things I can think of that originate from the boot-shaped country - I'm afraid the list would get so long I'll finish linking everything... next year!

First of all, I must say I really like their website (see link above). It's simple, clean, elegant, informative and it also has an English version. I have no problem with understanding Italian, but maybe other people don't understand the language, so it's always good to have an international version as well.
