simsek bronz sauce filled cupcakes
Along with Ulker and Solen, Simsek is one of the best-known (well, at least here in Romania) Turkish sweets producers. That's why, over the years, I got to try a lot of their products. Simsek is a company from the town of Karaman, which is located in south central Turkey. They have a wide product range comprising Snickers-like bars, mini-cakes and muffins, biscuits, wafers, chocolate spreads, chocolate eggs, crackers.
When I saw both Bronz cupcake versions on sale I decided that I would try them side by side.
The wrappers of both the Sour Cherry Sauce Filled Chocolate Cake and the Chocolate Sauce Filled Chocolate Cake looked pretty. Out of their wrappers, the cupcakes themselves didn't look that great. After cutting them into two, I was even more disappointed. They didn't smell of much, I could only feel the cocoa. And they just tasted very wrong, they tasted off... I looked for a "best before" date... July and June 2011. They still tasted off to me. The Simsek Paye with Chocolate Sauce had been a lot better.
